Community mosaic revealed at Milton Keynes 999 building

Mayor unveils artwork drawn by local school children.

A community mosaic, designed by school pupils, has been unveiled at Buckinghamshire Blue Light Hub.

Milton Keynes Mayor Marie Bradburn cut the ribbon recently to reveal the artwork, which features drawings by children from Charles Warren Academy, Langland School, Greenley’s School and the Harry’s Rainbow charity, before being finished by artist Sarah Harper.

The Blue Light Hub building in Bletchley was opened in 2020, as a state-of-the-art facility integrating Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service with Thames Valley Police and South-Central Ambulance Service, fostering greater collaboration between the emergency services.

“The Blue Light Hub thrives on community spirit, making it essential to engage our local community in this collaborative effort,” said a Bucks Fire spokesperson.

“Students from local schools began designing and creating drawings to be incorporated into the joint Emergency Services mosaic that is proudly installed in the reception area of the Blue Light Hub.”

The drawings range from a police helicopter to paramedics and specialist firefighting appliances.

“This mosaic has allowed me to use 26 young artists illustrations, the beautiful work is a true testament to their talent,” said Sarah Harper. “This mosaic tells the story of our project and our community, a legacy piece that shows what happens when we work together with creativity at the heart of our work.”
