Supermarket bays get tougher enforcement.
A problem with disabled parking bays at a Milton Keynes superstore has now been fixed after local councillors stepped in to help a disabled resident.
The shopper had been struggling to park because disabled bays in the Tesco store, Kingston were regularly taken up by drivers without Blue Badges.
The matter was raised with their local Liberal Democrat councillors, and action was taken to resolve the situation.
Councillor Jenni Ferrans and Councillor Duncan Banks contacted site owners British Land, who are responsible for enforcing the car park outside Tesco, to ensure proper enforcement was put in place.
Drivers who now misuse disabled parking bays are being fined and as a result, the vital parking spaces are staying free for people who need them.
“Disabled bays are not a convenience; they are a necessity,” said Jenni Ferrans. “We’re delighted the owners of the site acted quickly and we were able to help to resolve this issue.”
“Everyone deserves equal access to essential services,” added Duncan Banks. “We were glad to help and proud to have delivered this positive change.”
