Milton Keynes charity's minibus stolen, impacting accessibility for residents

Camphill Milton Keynes is a charity supporting adults with learning disabilities. This morning, they were shocked to find their accessible minibus missing from the car park, a target of overnight theft.

Thieves targeted the charity, drilling out the lock on the van to access the vehicle before making-off into the night. The minibus was a specially adapted vehicle with wheelchair access, so all members of the Camphill MK community to access transport for their medical appointments, therapeutic activities and community trips.  Many residents cannot travel independently or on public transport due to their disabilities and so access to a vehicle that enabled inclusion is a critical provision.

Lucy Davies, Head of Development for Camphill MK said on social media: “This is a heart-breaking way to arrive at work. Fancy stealing a van off a charity. I am so sad for our residents”.

It is a shock that someone would target a charity, and in particular a vehicle that offers transport to those in wheelchairs.  Please keep an eye out and if you can support the charity to fund the gap between what the insurance will pay out and what we will need for replacement, please consider making a donation: https://checkout.justgiving.com/c/189366
