CBBC Newsround visits Milton Keynes school to discuss Brexit

The students gave their opinions directed at adults who continue to disagree about leaving the EU.

“We made our decision and what’s done is done” was just one of the messages that Oakgrove students sent to adults still quarrelling over Brexit, when they took part in filming for a news report for CBBC’s Newsround.

Their views were broadcast on the CBBC channel in news bulletins and the video, entitled ‘Brexit: How to stop adults arguing over it’, has been posted on the Newsround website.

Impressed with the students’ well thought-through suggestions to help stop conflict between adults, Headteacher, Ian Tett, says, “We were delighted to welcome Newsround into Oakgrove School to interview the students on this very topical and often controversial subject.

“The students were able to draw on their knowledge of Brexit, based on their own understanding of what it will mean to leave the EU and from the discussions they have had at home with their families. The series of messages, aimed at adults who are at loggerheads with each other following the vote to leave, were delivered by the students in a mature way which demonstrated their comprehension of the subject.

“They were superb ambassadors for the school.”
