Bucks Fire has said that 'careless disposal' of smoking material is believed to have caused a fire in Milton Keynes yesterday (18/2).

Firefighters received reports of a blaze in the garden of a property on Tallis Lane in Browns Wood just after 5pm.

The fire started in the shed and had quickly spread to the fence.

Two fire engines and crews from West Ashland attended the scene.

Crews used one hose reel, two sets of breathing apparatus, and a toolkit to tackle the blaze.

Following the incident, a spokesperson for Bucks Fire said that the fire is "believed to have been caused by careless disposal of smoking materials".

Smoking is the most common cause of fire fatalities, therefore it is important that all smoking materials - including cigarettes and cigars - are properly put out and disposed of.
