Car gets stuck in floodwater and has to be rescued by firefighters in Milton Keynes

Storm Alex has continued to wreak havoc throughout Milton Keynes this morning, with one car getting stuck in floodwater.

Bucks Fire was called to Mill Lane in Great Brickhill just after 9am to find a car unable to move from the water.

Crews from West Ashland arrived at the scene to help shift the vehicle.

Residents are now being advised to be cautious that, although the storm has passed, some roads will still have floodwater on them.

This comes as houses, underpasses and lakes in the area were badly affected by the floods over the weekend.

Milton Keynes Council was also called out to properties in the area after residents shared concern of a "red flood warning" for houses in Willen and Middleton. The Highways Team placed sandbags at properties where they were needed and reminded residents to be cautious if out driving.
