Cancer patients enjoy an afternoon tea thanks to Milton Keynes charity

Al’s Pals is a Milton Keynes based charity providing free emotional support to anyone affected by cancer - patients, families, and carers.

The charity was founded in 2020 by Suzanne Brown, in memory of her dad Alan, after seeing first-hand how vital emotional support is during cancer treatment.

Every year in October, Al’s Pals celebrates Afternoon Tea Week in a very special way — by serving 100 afternoon teas to patients receiving treatment at the Milton Keynes Cancer Centre. This heartfelt tradition was inspired by Alan himself, who loved an afternoon tea, and it has since become a meaningful annual gesture of comfort, care and community.

The charity funds this initiative entirely themselves, with volunteers and supporters coming together to deliver each tea to those undergoing treatment - a small act that brings big smiles on a difficult day.

This year, Al’s Pals also hosted a special afternoon tea for their volunteers and patients, to celebrate and thank them for the incredible difference they make. Their volunteers are truly at the heart of everything the charity does.

As a small local charity, Al’s Pals relies on donations and community support to continue its work whether that’s through fundraising, volunteering, or helping raise awareness.
