It has been confirmed that the drive-in cinema in Central Milton Keynes will close due to the city entering Tier 4.
From today onwards, the Government has issued a 'stay at home' order for areas in Tier 4 - including Milton Keynes.
Non-essential retail, entertainment venues, gyms, and plenty of other businesses have had to close their doors with just hours' notice.
And a much-anticipated drive-in cinema has also taken a hit. MyCinema, run by MyMiltonKeynes and co-funded by Milton Keynes Council, has cancelled the remaining screenings.
All profits raised were set to be going to the MK Food Bank, which is a charity that has seen a real increase in demand during the covid pandemic. The money raised would have meant families across the city could receive food parcels from the charity.
MyMiltonKeynes issued a statement on Twitter last night (19/12): "It's with deep sadness that we have to announce our #MyCinema will close, following the screening of Love Actually tonight, due to #MiltonKeynes entering #tier4."
Ticket holders will be contacted on Monday to arrange refunds. But dozens of people are now saying they wish to donate their ticket fee to the food bank, but MyMiltonKeynes has not yet said whether this is possible.
