In 2024, a group of ladies launched Newport Pagnell Town Women’s Cricket.
“…to give women in our community the opportunity to play cricket in a welcoming, inclusive environment,” said Catherine Simmons, sponsorship secretary with the team.
Since the launch, it’s fair to say they have been bowled over by the interest shown!
“What started as an idea quickly became something much bigger. In our first year, over 25 women joined the team, many of whom had never played cricket before,” Catherine said, “In 2025, that same group went on to win the league, a huge achievement that reflects not only sporting success but the confidence, friendships, and sense of belonging the team has created.
“The growth of the women’s team mirrors the wider expansion of Newport Pagnell Cricket Club. The club continues to grow year on year, with increasing numbers of junior teams, helping to inspire the next generation and strengthen cricket at the heart of our community.
“The women’s team plays a vital role in that pathway, showing young girls that cricket is a place where they belong,” she added.
