Presentations from a charity’s head of development and the Mayor of Milton Keynes will form the centrepieces of next week’s Meet of MK networking event in the heart of the city.

Camphill Milton Keynes is the next chosen charity being highlighted by the MOMK evening event and, as well as that support from organisers MKFM, the organisation has the backing of MK Mayor James Lancaster as this year’s Mayoral Charity.

And it’s a very worthwhile cause to support: Camphill MK provides homes and meaningful workshops and activities for people with learning disabilities and autism. With a mission to help people find their own unique ability, the charity provides a strong and supportive environment to help residents gain confidence and independence in a safe environment.

The MOMK event, next Thursday 25th September at Volcano Falls, in Milton Keynes’ Xscape, will welcome Lucy Davies, Camphill’s Head of Development, who will take delegates through the process of how they developed partnerships with businesses and local people to build new accessible houses.

Cllr Lancaster will also speak at the gathering, describing the challenges he is undertaking to raise the profile and funds for the Camphill communities. For example, last week James was part of an abseil team that raised £9000.

“Camphill MK has been a principal partner with MKFM for two years,” said Lucy Davies.

“We very much value the links director Jo Ronan and the team bring to us through networking, increased visibility and by creatively looking for opportunities to develop the business.”

Lucy and her team can regularly be heard on MKFM talking about the valuable work on their charity, including their popular café and onsite theatre the Chrysalis.

MKFM’s ‘The Meet of MK’ gathers every month at an exciting Milton Keynes venue. This month’s event is on Thursday 25th September at Volcano Falls. For more details or to book tickets, visit: www.mkfm.com/events/mkfms-meet-of-mk.
