Camphill Milton Keynes take fundraising to new heights

Would you hang off a 400 ft tower for charity?

The Mayor of Milton Keynes James Lancaster has been preparing himself for a rather daring challenge in aid of charity.

In May, when James became our City’s Mayor, he pledged to raise funds for a charity supporting adults with learning disabilities.  He chose Camphill MK after seeing the incredible work they are doing for some of the most vulnerable people in society and he wanted to play a part in the charity’s ambition to double the number of people they can support.

This September James is abseiling off Northampton Lift Tower (the UK’s highest permanent abseil) and he would love you to join him.  You can do this either by joining his abseil team or by donating funds through his JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/page/mayor-of-milton-keynes-camphillmk .

Earlier this year Rod and Dave tested the route down, raising a staggering £3,100 abseiling for Camphill MK with huge support from their Freemasons friends particularly their own lodge Manor of Swanburn.  They told us “It was such an exhilarating challenge.  We were both nervous about being that high up but it was just so enjoyable.  And to do it whilst supporting the work of an incredible charity really made it all worthwhile and underpins what the freemasons are all about”.

James undertakes his own abseil charity on the 13th September.  “I’m not sure why I sign up for these things!” James joked when talking about his abseil “I know I will enjoy it but I’m a bit worried about the first look down.  Hopefully I will have a team of fellow abseilers with me to cheer me on and make it even more enjoyable”.

If you would like to abseil for Camphill MK (must be aged 12 or over), drop the team at Camphill MK an email fundraising@camphillmk.co.uk
