Camphill Milton Keynes is named charity of the year by MK Medics

Camphill MK, a residential community of more than 65 adults with learning disabilities and autism, has been selected by the Milton Keynes network of medical professionals as its Charity of the Year.

As a network of GPs and Hospital Consultants, MK Medics aims to improve healthcare in Milton Keynes and support local charities by inviting them to share their story with the network and take part in fundraising activities.

Camphill MK was delighted to accept the first donation of £1100 after a successful family summer social event took place in Shenley Brook End on the 9th July, which encouraged the MK Medics community to come together and enjoy sports and outdoor activities with the whole family. MK Medics is already planning a second fundraising event for later this year to provide further support to Camphill MK’s mission.

Dr Sharon Roque, GP at Newport Pagnell Medical Centre said, “We are keen to see and support examples of care in the community for the city’s most vulnerable residents. Camphill is an incredible charity supporting individuals and we hope we can play a role in helping them raise the much-needed funds for their expansion. Previously, we supported MK Hospital based charities but this year, it was important to us that we reached further into the community.”

Tim Davies, Camphill MK CEO, said, “Camphill MK is honoured and incredibly grateful to be recognised for this year’s initiative and will look to expand the community with the donations raised by building an additional 60 accessible bedrooms for individuals with mobility support needs”.

“We are delighted with the wonderful donations we have already received from the fundraising that has already taken place. The continuous support from MK Medics is helping to make our mission to expand the community possible.”
