Busy Central Milton Keynes road reopens with brand new traffic light junction after over 5 months of work

Milton Keynes Council's service provider, Ringway, had been working on the junction since 1st June.

The road closure had been in place at Central Milton Keynes since June as the council installed a signalised traffic light system at the junction of Avebury Boulevard & Grafton Street.

The scheme also provided a new lane on Grafton Gate (northbound), as pictured below.

The road closure has affected many businesses and commuters over the past 5 months, so many will be relieved to know it has finally reopened.

Atesh, a Turkish restaurant that opened shortly before the road closure, was hugely affected by this closure.

The council say the work was needed as this area, located near Argos and the current COVID-19 test centre, was often congested during rush hour and has seen a number of road traffic accidents in recent years.

MK Council say that materials have been recycled back into the scheme where possible.
