
Rescue service busy with hedge blazes as temperatures soar.
Milton Keynes-based firefighters were kept busy during yesterday’s heatwave as a spate of hedgerow blazes required call-outs from three different stations.
Yesterday morning one crew from the Broughton station were called to a small fire in a bushed area which, it was believed, had affected the electrical power underground.
A cordon was put in place by firefighters, National Grid were notified and attended to isolating the electrics to the local area around Shorham Rise, Two Mile Ash. The incident was handed over to National Grid.
Later, a crew from the Ashland station were called to a fire in a hedgerow located in a field. The crew used two beaters and two water backpacks to extinguish the blaze, at Shenley Brook End. Thames Valley Police were notified of the incident.
Soon after, the Newport Pagnell crew was called to deal with a hedgerow blaze, with approximately 20 metres of it alight. Firefighters used a hose reel and beaters to put out the flames, at the Petsoe End, Emberton scene.
