Burglars target Milton Keynes residents claiming to be ex-offenders

Residents are being told to be cautious of people knocking on their doors claiming to be ex-offenders.

Great Linford Parish Council issued the following warning to residents: "It has been brought to our attention through social media channels that there's a group of men between 16-25 going door to door claiming to be ex-offenders on various estates in Milton Keynes.

"They are trying to sell items from their back packs, claiming that its part of a probation programme. This is not the case, what they are doing is highlighting houses for burglary and will persistently come back.

"They will show people their ‘Council Licence’ claiming it allows them to go door to door, we have been informed by the cabinet member for licensing, that no such licence exists. Try not to engage in conversation and Thames Valley Police’s advice is to call 101 immediately and give them a description of the person and the registration number of any vehicle they are using, if that is possible.

"Stay safe and look out for more vulnerable neighbours and feel free to share this post amongst family and friends."

If you have any suspicions please call 101.
