Buckingham Group files for administration

The contracting company behind some of the biggest projects in Milton Keynes has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators.

Buckingham Group, based on Silverstone Road Stowe in Buckinghamshire, has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators. The notice was filed yesterday, giving it 10 days to keep creditors at bay, Construction Enquirer reports.

The construction news organisation reported that the news comes following a board shake-up just two weeks ago.

Buckingham Group Construction have been behind some of the biggest buildings in Milton Keynes including Stadium MK, MK1, the Dominoes Head Office and also worked on the Network Rail project to widen the West Coast Mainline at MK in 2010.

In last reported accounts for 2021, Construction Enquirer reports that the company suffered a near £11m pre-tax loss after taking a big hit on a major stadium job, believed to be Fulham FC’s Craven Cottage Riverside stand.

At the time Buckingham chairman, Mike Kempley, said that he expected to report steady sales for 2022, with its present strong order pipeline expected to lift revenue in 2023 to a record £725m.

The company employs around 600 people.
