Travellers have set up in Xscape Milton Keynes Car Park with businesses saying they were advised to close early

A large number of travellers with caravans have set up in the Car Park outside Xscape Milton Keynes in the last few hours, with businesses nearby saying they were advised to close early by Police.

Images sent to MKFM show a large number of caravans parked in the bays between Xscape and Avebury Boulevard.

A number of people working in businesses at Xscape have also confirmed to MKFM that they were advised to close early by Police.

Thames Valley Police have now released a full statement regarding the travellers, which you can read here.

One person at the scene told MKFM: "The cinema and other businesses in Xscape had to close at around 11pm because of the situation. The Police were there but not sure if the travellers were willing to move."

There were also some reports of anti social behaviour which led to businesses closing early. Other reports said there were children playing unsupervised after midnight on the play area outside the old Harvester.

The Police were in attendance at the scene overnight.

MKFM has contacted Thames Valley Police for further information.
