Brand new vintage store opens in Milton Keynes shopping centre following competition for rent-free space

Earlier in the week, Midsummer Place welcomed the opening of its first ‘Hatch’ competition winner, Throw Back Vintage.

Earlier this year, Midsummer Place in Milton Keynes launched a competition which would give independent businesses a chance to open a store with free rent for six weeks.

This week, three winners have been announced: Vibrant Fit, Throw Back Vintage and Amber Ray Aesthetics.

Throw Back Vintage is the first pop-up shop to open in Midsummer Place.

he store is owned by Faye Kingston and sells internationally sourced vintage clothing from the 40s to 90s such as flying jackets to sweatshirts.

Faye said: “As a brand, we are committed to looking fresh and on trend through vintage, reworked and recycled clothing to help reduce the impact on the environment.

“We are so excited to be open in Midsummer Place and to take our company to a new level while encouraging thousands of people to consider shopping unique and stylish vintage pieces.”

Kirsty McGiff, Marketing Manager at Midsummer Place has driven the competition and said that the talent and innovative thinking in the region was “beyond expectations and truly inspirational”. She added: “We started the competition thinking it would be great to have at least one really strong winner but, due to the incredible talent that entered, we have three.”

“The winners of Hatch 2022 showed that they had a strong business idea, a unique concept that would appeal to our shoppers and a true sense of passion and belief in what they do,” Kirsty added.

Vibrant Fit is set to open on 24 or 25 July, offering a data-based fitness studio that targets areas of the body through a unique system of testing and analysis, what they call a body MOT.
