Brand new Milton Keynes underpass vandalised just 24-hours after opening

A brand new underpass in Milton Keynes that opened less than 24-hours ago has already been vandalised.

The underpass below the V4 Watling Street, which connects Two Mile Ash and the Western Expansion Area, has just officially opened to the public following months of work.

Yesterday, Cllr Darlington and Cllr Cryer-Whitehead reopened the road and new underpass at a special event.

And now, the north side of the underpass has already been vandalised with part of the grey wall being covered in graffiti.

A spokesperson for Milton Keynes Council said: "Obviously we’re very disappointed that the new V4 underpass has been damaged in this way already. It’s a brand new surface so removing it by cleaning it off may cause damage. We can paint over it at a later date at additional expense to the Council”.

Residents have since been discussing the graffiti on social media, with some criticising the behaviour and others saying it is "art". One resident added: "Regardless of opinion on whether it's art or not, it's still petty vandalism. Just because you think it's boring and grey, doesn't mean you have the right to draw over it."
