Brand new fairy-tale themed play park opened in Milton Keynes

A fairy-tale themed play park officially opened on the Lakes Estate this week.

The new park, which marks the third out of the four new parks opening in the area, is located off Skene Close.

The park includes a large climbing frame, swings, a princess-themed roundabout, balancing beams and even a trampoline.

Labour Ward Councillor Mohammed Khan, who represents Bletchley East, was joined by local stakeholders and children to officially open the park, which was designed by pupils from Waterhall Primary School.

Labour Councillor Mohammed Khan (Bletchley East) cut the ribbon on Wednesday afternoon. He said: “It was brilliant to be joined by local children to open the new park, and to see just how much it meant to them. There were lots of smiling children playing on the equipment, especially the trampoline!”

Three out of the four play parks planned for the Lakes Estate are now open; the first to open was a jungle-themed park, and a pirate-themed park opened earlier this summer. The fourth play park is expected to open by early autumn.

This forms part of Milton Keynes Council’s major regeneration plans for the Lakes Estate, including building over 200 new council homes and shops. There will also be improvements to public spaces and cycle networks.

Labour Ward Councillors Ed Hume and Emily Darlington, who is also Cabinet Member for Healthy Communities, added: “We’re making solid process with the regeneration of the Lakes Estate that was voted for by residents, and hope that a contractor should start at Serpentine Court later this year. It’s also vital we focus on supporting our communities through the regeneration, and playparks are one way to improve children’s health and wellbeing. We look forward to seeing the fourth and final play park open soon!”
