'Boris will you open the park... please' says three-year-old boy from Milton Keynes

Now that the weather is getting warmer, children would usually be rushing to play in one of Milton Keynes' parks - including three-year-old Archie.

However, due to the Government rules surrounding coronavirus, all outdoor playgrounds are currently closed.

Archie has since shared a message to the Prime Minister asking him to reopen them. His mother, Lisa, has seconded this request. She said: "I really want Boris Johnson to say we can take our kids to the park again... I'll even take my blue roll and antibac spray.

"I know we all want everything to go back to normal but not being able to go down a slide is torturing my little boy."

Scotland will be reopening their playgrounds from next Monday (29/6), and this has got residents questioning when the British Government will make the much-anticipated announcement.

The Star reports that playgrounds could follow the same reopening schedule as leisure centres, pools and gyms due to the way touchpoints are shared between lots of people.

If this is the case, it seems playgrounds may be able to reopen in July at the earliest, but this is just speculation.

The Prime Minister is expected to announce today (23/6) that cinemas, museums and galleries will reopen on July 4. This will be part of the Government's further easing of coronavirus restrictions, with it also being likely that the 2m social distancing rule will be reduced to 1m.
