Bletchley East by-election date announced

    Following the resignation of Councillor Emily Darlington on August 1, the Bletchley East by-election date has been announced to take place on Thursday, September 12.

    Last week, Emily Darlington MP, announced her resignation as Councillor at Milton Keynes City Council, following her election to Parliament in the General Election last month, triggering a by-election in Bletchley East. 

    A valid request for by-election has been received and is set to take place on Thursday, September 12. 

    Nominations will be open from Wednesday August 7 until Thursday August 15, on the weekdays between 10am and 4pm. 

    The deadline to register to vote in this election is midnight on Tuesday August 27. Individuals who have already registered to vote will be sent a poll card towards the middle of August. Those who are unsure if they are registered to vote can call Milton Keynes City Council on 01908 254706 to check.

    The final deadline to apply for a postal vote is Wednesday, August 28 at 5pm. Details on how to apply are available here.

    The final deadline to apply to appoint a proxy is Wednesday September 4 at 5pm. The person you appoint as a proxy will need to go to your allocated polling station to vote or apply for a postal vote before 5pm on 28 August.

    The final deadline to apply for a voter authority certificate is Wednesday September 4 at 5pm.
