Police stop train in Milton Keynes after male is spotted with 'samurai sword' which was actually an umbrella

Thames Valley Police were called to Milton Keynes Central Station today after receiving reports of a male with a samurai sword on a train.

Armed police were today (28/10) called to a train which was forced to stop at Milton Keynes Central Station after receiving a report of a male with a samurai sword.

A member of the public reported the 'samurai sword' to Thames Valley Police, who then authorised an armed deployment.

After investigating the samurai sword, police found that the male was in fact carrying an umbrella that he had bought online.

The umbrella was surrendered to police for destruction with Thames Valley Police reminding people on social media that these items can cause 'serious alarm and distress to other members of the public'.
