Rooftop Restaurant, Apartments and more: First look at 'New City Place' planned for Central Milton Keynes

A brand new development is being planned for Central Milton Keynes, with new shops, offices, apartments, cafes and restaurants all promised.

New City Place will be located on Midsummer Boulevard between The Hub and the Central Rail Station, opposite Wetherspoons.

At present, the site is simply a large car park which is used by workers from the adjacent offices.

But now Sterling Property Ventures have revealed their plans for a massive new complex, which appears as if it would emulate The Hub area nearby.

Enquiries are now being taken for the office space, on one side of the piazza, which will comprise of 16 floors and a total of 253,000 square feet of space.

200 'luxurious' apartments will fill the opposite side spread over 24 floors, with a full concierge reception on the first floor.

A rooftop restaurant over two floors will sit on top of the apartment block, giving stunning views over Milton Keynes from 28 floors above ground.

There will also be an open public viewing gallery from the 29th floor of the second block.

The bottom floors of both buildings will be home to even more new restaurants, cafes and bars with outdoor seating and a central square also part of the plans.

Describing the new destination, designers have said: "Landmark buildings will signal the presence of a new public square from key vantage points around the town and beyond. A publicly accessible high level viewing lounge will also allow unprecedented aerial views of the city, finally revealing the character and genius of its masterplan to all."

"The proposals developed so far are illustrative of the potential of what will be possible on this last complete major development site within the central business district, so conveniently close to the main railway station."

"A balanced development, led by cutting-edge flexible and versatile workspace, and supported by high quality private rented sector apartments, underpinned by retail and amenity uses will bring leading office occupiers and residents to work and live in Milton Keynes. The emerging architectural expression will be designed to convey a sense of confidence and vision, setting new standards for future development."

"By means of ‘New City Place’, Milton Keynes will show that it is open for business, forward-thinking and able to continue to offer businesses and residents a unique live/work balance into the future."
