Ambulance response times down for serious emergencies in Milton Keynes

Response times for ambulances attending serious emergencies across Milton Keynes have improved by 13 minutes compared with last year.

For Category Two incidents like heart attacks and strokes, ambulances in the new city are reaching those in need in 31:33 minutes – down from 45:24 a year ago. Across the country average waits are down by a third – from 47:26 to 32:43.

The fall follows major new investment in emergency care – with an additional £450m announced by the Health Secretary through the 25/26 emergency care plan.

This analysis follows news last week that across England, the NHS saw the waiting list fall by more than 86,000 in November – the second biggest single month fall in 15 years. Waiting lists have reduced by more than 312,000 since Labour came into office, despite record numbers of people coming forward for treatment. GP satisfaction is also up and A&E waits are down.

More evening and weekend appointments, tests closer to home, and surgical hubs cutting backlogs have all made an impact, as well as specialist “crack teams” to get through surgeries quicker, millions more GP appointments, and smarter use of technology.

“Labour is working hard to get our NHS back on its feet here in Milton Keynes and right across the country – and we see that change in faster ambulance responses, higher GP satisfaction, falling waiting lists, and shorter waits at A&E," said Chris Curtis, MP for Milton Keynes North, "The simple fact is that quicker ambulance times like these mean better outcomes for people. This is lifesaving care arriving faster.”

Emily Darlington, MP for Milton Keynes Central, added, “This great news comes after just last week I shared that waiting lists at Milton Keynes University Hospital had dropped by 1,075 since the General Election. At the General Election people in Milton Keynes voted for change – and through rescuing our local health service Labour is delivering."
