Aldi supermarket in Milton Keynes to close while extension work is completed

The Aldi supermarket in Westcroft is set to be closed for over 2 months while work to extend the unit is completed.

The stores at Westrcoft District Centre are currently undergoing a makeover, following the closure of Poundstretcher.

Earlier this year, the Poundland store at Westcroft moved into the larger neighbouring unit of the former Poundstretcher shop.

Following the completion of the move and the opening of the new Poundland store, work is now underway to extend Aldi into Poundland's old unit.

As work nears completion, the supermarket has now announced it will be closed from 15th January until 23rd March.

It comes as the popular supermarket chain has announced its plan to open 100 new stores across the UK over the next two years.

Milton Keynes has been named as one of its target areas, with 5 already in the city.

Richard Thornton, Communications Director at Aldi UK, said: “We’re continuing to gain even more customers – with over 60% of UK households shopping with Aldi in the last year.

“Our focus is on expanding our store estate, making sure Aldi is accessible to as many of these new shoppers across the country as possible. Looking ahead, we are excited to provide millions of new customers with access to Aldi’s award-winning quality and unbeatable value as we create even more places and more ways to shop with us.”
