Adventurers invited to Willen Hospice Arctic Survival Challenge information evening

Willen Hospice is inviting adventurous fundraisers to join a free, virtual information evening to find out more about their Arctic Survival Challenge, set to take place in March 2022.

The frosty voyage was due to embark in March 2021, but has been rescheduled due to COVID-19.

The epic adventure will begin South of the Arctic Circle in Northern Sweden. Everyone will learn crucial survival skills, and discover how to build their own shelters, including a traditional Scandinavian tent, a natural shelter made from branches and foliage, and a hand-built snow hole called a quinzee. But the adventure isn’t only about keeping out the cold; all the hard work will be rewarded with the unforgettable experience of cross-country skiing, husky sledding and snowmobiling, in one of the most remote, and beautiful places on the planet.

Organisers will be holding an information evening on Monday 12 October, 6 – 7pm on Zoom. It’s free to join, just email challenges@willen-hospice.org.uk for the invite link.

Dawn Clark, Challenges Fundraiser, said “Taking part in an Arctic Survival Challenge like this one is a fantastic way to raise vital funds, which at this difficult time, are crucial to the care we provide at Willen Hospice. It’ll be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Some days will be tough, but people will be happy to support your fundraising for Willen Hospice.

Everyone who has experienced our challenges have been amazed by what they’ve achieved, and have made long-lasting memories and friends. The information evening is a chance to find out more about the challenge and ask any questions you may have.”
