The section 60 orders that have been in place covering parts of Milton Keynes have now come to an end.

The section 60 order temporarily enhances powers for officers, meaning that they can stop and search anyone within the area highlighted.

A section 60 order has been placed over parts of Milton Keynes for just under two weeks.

Parts of Milton Keynes were placed under the order following the tragic murder of a 16-year-old near Chaffron away in Milton Keynes on Friday 11th February.

After several extensions, a section 60 was placed over further parts of Milton Keynes following a violent incident.

The order had been put in place following an affray which occurred in Western Road, Wolverton on Saturday night (19/2), in which a man was assaulted with a baseball bat.

Last night (22/2), Thames Valley Police announced that the section 60 orders had come to an end, however, they will still be stopping and searching anybody that they suspect to be carrying weapons or drugs.

Thames Valley Police explained on Facebook: "We still have additional officers supporting our local neighbourhood teams to continue patrols around MK and identify those acting suspiciously.

"Whilst our search powers are no longer enhanced to allow us to search anyone, we will still be stopping and searching people who we suspect could be carrying weapons or drugs using our existing police powers.

"Our neighbourhood teams work closely with intelligence officers so they know where suspicious incidents are being reported, cars that criminals may be using and who is believed to be carrying weapons.

"If you know someone who carries a knife with them, please tell us before they hurt themselves or someone else. You can call us on 101 or make a report online, or you can speak to Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their website.

"Later this week we will share the outcomes of the stop and searches carried out while the section 60 orders were in place."
