Additional officers join local police in Milton Keynes as section 60 order is extended another day

Thames Valley Police have extended the section 60 that was put in place on Tuesday.

Thames Valley Police have posted an update saying: “This evening Chief Inspector Livingstone, Deputy Commander for MK, briefed the additional officers joining our local teams in patrolling the streets of Milton Keynes.

“He shared details of the recent violent crimes we have seen, those we know regularly carry knives and reinforced the importance of walking around our estates rather than driving.

“A section 60 order has been extended until 5pm tomorrow evening, retaining our increased stop and search powers.

“Yesterday, 19 stop searches were carried out and two weapons and amounts of drugs were seized. Officers are continuing to patrol this evening and expect to carry out more searches.

“Knife crime is not tolerated in Milton Keynes and the tragic loss of life this week demonstrates again the devastating impact that these weapons have in our communities.”

The section 60 was put in place following a fatal stabbing in Milton Keynes.
