Members of CMK's Neighbourhood team answered a call from John Lewis yesterday afternoon when the stores' Loss Prevention Officers detained a shoplifter with three Christmas crackers.
Upon arrival, officers soon discovered that the suspect was already wanted for theft and robbery.
Writing on their social media channels, Thames Valley Police quipped, 'That’s what we call a cracker of a coincidence!'
The man is now in custody, while investigations continue.
Police signed off with some smart advice for anyone else due to hit the shops anytime soon: 'If you’re planning your Christmas shopping, stick to the checkout… it’s a lot less explosive,' they said.
