60 Serco staff volunteer to work today to help clear backlog of rubbish

It has been revealed that 60 Serco staff have volunteered to work across Milton Keynes today, in order to help clear the backlog of waste and recycling in our city.

The news means that around 12 to 13 crews in total will be collecting rubbish today, with waste collections taking place on a Sunday for the first time in a long period.

Residents have been responding with anger as the ongoing bin collection issues have been taking place for two weeks now, with 15,000 households reported to be affected at the most recent count.

According to Milton Keynes Council, garden and food waste collections will resume tomorrow according to the revised Christmas and New Year collection timetable.

The 'green bin' collections were suspended earlier this week to allow crews to concentrate on clearing the backlog of other waste.
