26 patients currently being treated in Milton Keynes Hospital have coronavirus according to latest data

The latest update tells us that 26 patients being treated at Milton Keynes University Hospital have tested positive for coronavirus, with none currently being treated on ventilators.

The latest data, released by the government weekly, includes people admitted to MK Hospital who tested positive for COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to their hospital admission and those who tested positive in hospital after admission.

The data, which tells us how many patients are being treated in MKUH, tells us that as of Tuesday 7th December, there are 26 patients being cared for in MK Hospital, with none being treated on a ventilator.

Last week there were 34 patients with two being treated with a ventilator.

This news comes as 3 deaths were recorded at Milton Keynes Hospital this week and at least four Omicron cases have been detected in the borough.

All four Omicron cases have links to travel and appropriate public health action has been taken. It has been reported that there are also several further suspected cases are under investigation.

So far, there are early signs that the Omicron variant of COVID-19 is more transmissible than the Delta variant, which represents almost all cases in MK at present. This suggests that cases are expected to rise quickly now that the variant has been detected.

The government bought in Plan B restrictions this week in a bid to limit the spread.

All coronavirus data is provided by the government and NHS, no further information is provided on age, gender or vaccination status.
