23 skips filled during waste amnesty days in areas of Milton Keynes

Stantonbury Parish Council undertook three waste amnesty days this month, in efforts to clean up the estate.

Stantonbury Councillors Alex Walker and Chantelle De Villiers, provided £800 of their ward budgets to the Parish in order to fund the waste amnesty days.

It’s the second round of amnesty days the Parish has undertaken, the first took place last June in Bradville.

In partnership with Milton Keynes Council and Serco, skips are located in easily accessible locations and home collections are also made available during the events.

In total, 10 skips were filled in Stantonbury and 13 in Bradville were filled and emptied.

Two Serco tipper vans and a team of three Serco staff were also mobile on the days, helping to collect large items with both vehicles making at least 6 trips each to the tips.

Linda Morgan Chair of Stantonbury Parish Council said: “We are really pleased with how the waste amnesty project has progressed. We have had a lot of positive feedback from residents, and we are already setting up plans for more. The next areas to receive the skips will be Bancroft Park and Blue Bridge, Bancroft, Oakridge Park and Linford Wood."

"On top of the skip amnesty on Saturday 2nd July we carried out litter picking on all of the areas in our parish. A huge thank you to residents, ward councillors, parish councillors and parish staff for all their hard work on the day.

"We are hoping that in 2023 we can carry on doing the amnesty and continuous litter picks throughout the parish."

Stantonbury Ward Councillor Alex Walker added: “Linda and the team have done an amazing job. The sheer amount of rubbish removed from the estates will inevitably lead to a fall in fly-tipping and a cleaner environment. I really want to see MK Council help fund projects like this on a more systematic basis.”
