21 and 22-year-olds in Milton Keynes can book their COVID vaccination as rollout continues

21 and 22-year-olds in Milton Keynes are now able to book their COVID-19 vaccination at their closest vaccination centre.

This comes as just yesterday (15/6) over 23s were being invited to have the life-saving vaccine.

Due to the rapidly spreading Indian - or Delta - variant, the Government has announced its plans to extend the rollout to all UK adults over 18-years-old by the end of the week.

This means that every adult would have been able to have the vaccine by the time restrictions ease on July 19th, and two-thirds of adults will be fully vaccinated.

Some 972,000 text messages will be sent out to the newly eligible residents across the nation, inviting them to schedule appointments for both doses via the national booking system.

Dr Emily Lawson, lead for the NHS COVID Vaccination Programme, said: "The largest ever NHS vaccination campaign is in the home stretch of the first dose roll-out," and getting the jab is "the most important step you can take to protect yourself, your friends and family so it's really important everybody in the latest eligible groups books themselves in to get their jab and plays their part in this huge national effort".

People that will also be turning 21 on or before 1st July can book their appointment too.

People aged 39 and under who are eligible and pregnant women will be offered the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine in line with updated JCVI guidance.

Those who cannot go online can call the service on 119 instead to book their jab.
