Local pop-punk band rising in popularity releases new EP 'Sunnyside'

Calling all pop-punk lovers, Autumn Fires is coming through! They are taking the music scene by storm with a fantastic new EP that features 5 tracks.

Autumn Fires is a five-piece band, with Charlotte Haimes (Vocals), Callum Skea (Guitar), Jamie Smart (Guitar), Neil Dowd (Bass), and Daryl Humphries (Drums).

We have many locals in Milton Keynes that are big fans of Autumn Fires and they have been from the very start, and, since the early days, Autumn Fires have shown nothing but true growth.

You may have heard of them through one of their early singles 'Under Starlight", "Not What I Want" or "Bones", these tracks lit a fire! And it has been burning ever since. Autumn Fires have gained a very strong fanbase and continue to do so.

Autumn Fires has an established sound and brand, their music evolves each time, and they have a fantastic stage presence that really makes you feel like a part of the band family.

You can now stream their recently released EP 'Sunnyside' on all major streaming platforms, alongside awesome music videos to match.

The EP features 5 tracks, Sunnyside, Chemical Burn, Sandcastles ft. Luke Smithson, Miserable, and Lifelines.

Each song bursts with life and has such relatable and heartfelt lyrics, they are keeping the original sounds of pop-punk alive whilst modernising it, and I'm totally here for it.

Jodie Erica asked Autumn Fires some questions and here is what they said.

    Q) Tell us about your latest release, is there a meaning behind it? Do you write your own songs?

    A) We write all our own music, and our latest single "Chemical Burn" is the third release of our upcoming sophomore EP "Sunnyside". The EP centres around themes of mental health, finding yourself and navigating your relationships and your own happiness. "Sunnyside" is about struggling when you're surrounded by negativity and finding the positives.

    Q) How long have you been performing? Tell us some backstory about your journey and how the band came together

    A) As "Autumn Fires" we have been a 5 piece band since December 2020, and we formed in lockdown. Since we formed, we've been in the studio recording our 2 albums and their accompanying music videos and press, and also touring the UK, but we hope to tour more in 2023. We've been fortunate enough to play some awesome shows too such as our festival slot back in July for BBC introducing stage.

The band actually formed after a few of us left our old bands, and Charlotte and Callum were the first members, then Jamie joined followed by Jamie and Neil. We met on social media and quickly became really good friends.

    Q) Who are your musical influences and inspirations?

    A) Our main inspirations growing up were bands like Paramore, All Time Low and Green Day. More recently our music is inspired by bands such as Between You And Me and State Champs.

    Q) What other hobbies/passions do you all enjoy regardless of music?

    A) Our band as a group enjoy gaming together, we play PlayStation regularly as a group. Our singer Charlotte is very artistic and likes painting and drawing, Callum and Neil play football and Neil enjoys rock climbing. Jamie has kids and spends time with them, and we all go to the pub as a band often.

    Q) Do you have a favourite or funny story so far, of a performance etc?

    A) We have lots of funny memories as we are so close as a band, and when we recorded our second EP our drummer Daryl fell asleep in the studio, so we pranked him by piling empty food cartons on him, it got pretty tall until he woke up, we were all dying of laughter, and I think he got us back by pranking us later haha. We're all pretty laid back and love having a laugh together.

Our favourite show so far would be the London show we played last year supporting Two Year Break, it was to a few hundred people and the room was so sweaty, it was wild! We had an incredible night; our favourite shows are when people go absolutely crazy and just really enjoy themselves.

    Q) Where are your favourite go-to places to perform in Milton Keynes?

    A) Our favourite Milton Keynes venue would be the Craufurd Arms, we definitely want to play more hometown dates on our next tour and meet more hometown fans!

Autumn Fires are performing next at the Pick It Up Festival, supporting pop-punk band WSTR. Keep up to date with their latest gigs, music and general updates here
