Understanding Minds' mental health and suicide prevention courses are taught by Isobel, a Mental Health Professional with years of experience in frontline suicide prevention services.
At Understanding Minds, our mental health and suicide prevention courses are taught by Isobel, a Mental Health Professional with years of experience in frontline suicide prevention services. These courses equip employees and leaders with the skills to recognise, respond to, and manage mental health challenges with confidence.
Poor mental health costs UK employers £52 billion each year. Yet, Deloitte states that for every £1 invested in mental health support, such as training, employers see an average return of £4.70 in productivity.
Our training effectively reduces workplace mental health problems, increases engagement and staff retention, cuts costs related to absenteeism and presenteeism, boosts productivity, and encourages a supportive culture.
A mentally healthy workplace results in higher productivity, lower absenteeism, and stronger employee engagement. Our training provides teams with the skills to support colleagues, reduce stress, and foster a culture where employees thrive, benefiting both your people and your business.
Each course, created by the National Centre for Suicide Prevention Education and MHFA England, is based on research and includes real-life insights from my experience working directly with individuals in crisis, ensuring your team learns the theory but also truly understands it.
By training with Understanding Minds, your employees will walk away more resilient and better equipped to spot early signs of mental ill-health, leading to better outcomes for everyone.
Our courses are all fully accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health. The courses we deliver are:
- Mental Health Aware – half-day course
- Mental Health Manager’s Skills – half-day course
- Mental Health First Aider – two-day course
- MHFAiders® Refresher – half-day course that renews existing MHFAiders® qualification after three years
- Suicide Prevention First Aid – half-day or one-day course

As well as being Trusted by the UK’s leading mental health charity, Mind, to deliver courses on their behalf, I also have years of experience working in frontline suicide prevention services and mental health services for men, employees, children, and young people. This has given me a wealth of real-life experiences related to all topics included in our training courses. This knowledge allows me to give learners incredible insight into what it feels like to experience mental ill health, increasing their understanding and ability to connect with a person in distress. They will also be given the tools to help signpost a person to professional help, an essential step towards recovery.
By training with Understanding Minds, you will also be helping your local community, as for every course booked, I give a free wellbeing workshop to a class of schoolchildren in Milton Keynes.
