Emily’s Star is a dedicated charity supporting children, babies, and young people in Milton Keynes and beyond who are living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, as well as the families who care for them.
From the very beginning of a child’s life through to the age of 25, we provide consistent, compassionate support during some of the most challenging circumstances a family can face.
Families caring for a seriously ill child often experience overwhelming emotional, practical, and financial pressures. Emily’s Star exists to ensure that these families are not left to cope alone. We offer essential assistance that is tailored to each family’s needs, including practical resources, emotional support, and opportunities to connect with others who understand their experiences. By providing this support, we help families feel less isolated and more equipped to navigate their journey.
A key part of our work focuses on supporting families of premature and underweight babies. When a baby is born early, parents are often thrust into a frightening and uncertain situation with little time to prepare. To help ease this immediate stress, Emily’s Star provides emergency neonatal care packs containing essential items for both the baby and parents. These packs offer comfort and practical support at a time when families need it most.
Emily’s Star is the only charity in the UK to offer these neonatal care packs through a fully postable system, allowing us to reach families in hospitals across the country. This ensures that support can be delivered quickly and efficiently, regardless of where a family is located, providing reassurance and care during those critical early days.
Our wider support services are designed to reduce pressure on families and improve wellbeing. Through community-based initiatives, we create safe spaces for connection, understanding, and peer support. We also offer guidance and practical help to address challenges such as accessing services, managing financial strain, or coping with the emotional impact of caring for a child with complex needs.
