Meet of MK to support Rainbow Fund this month

LGBTQ+ community highlighted in latest business MK networking event.

A dedicated charitable fund that helps to support projects and organisations connected with Milton Keynes’ LGBTQ+ community will be the chosen charity at the forthcoming Meet of MK (MOMK) gathering this month.

The business networking event, organised by MKFM, has chosen the Rainbow Fund as the centre piece of its networking evening for August and will hear from one of the fund’s key executives as well as supporting fundraising on the night.

An initiative from the Milton Keynes Community Foundation, the Rainbow Fund supports organisations that centre on inclusion, visibility and well-being for the LGBTQ+ community in Milton Keynes.

The fund prioritises groups led by and for LGBTQ+ communities, especially those supporting people who face discrimination or marginalisation.

Milton Keynes has a long history of supporting the LGBTQ+ community, but many people still feel concerns in terms of isolation or safe spaces. MK Community Foundation would like to see more clubs, projects and mental health support groups for the LGBTQ+ community in Milton Keynes and is continually looking for funding for those ideas and schemes.

MK Community Foundation will be fundraising on the evening of the MOMK and Sam Snelus, the organisation’s Philanthropy Director, will address guests, talking  about how they can support the fund.

“This fund is about celebrating and supporting the richness of our LGBTQ+ communities here in Milton Keynes,” said Ian Revell, CEO, MK Community Foundation.

“We’ve seen the care and creativity that already exists, and we hope this fund helps it grow, so more people can thrive in our city and feel safe to be themselves.”

MKFM’s ‘The Meet of MK’ gathers every month at an exciting Milton Keynes venue. This month’s event is on Thursday 28th August at Hotel La Tour, Milton Keynes.
