This is a world where no one plays, no one questions and no one ever leaves - a world run by ‘The Vine’ an omnipresent, disembodied regime, in which citizens are ceremoniously evaporated when they are deemed no longer useful. Where the Hell is Bernard? follows four women who work in a sorting office redistributing possessions of evaporated citizens.
Everything runs like clockwork until the escape of Bernard Freemont on his evaporation day reveals the potential of something ‘other’. Subconsciously they find themselves awoken with possibility, and the beginnings of a grass roots revolution starts to take place.
With filmic influences and original sound by Paul Freeman, Haste Theatre create visually striking theatre combining live song, puppetry, movement and clown. Supported by the Arts Council England.
