The Stowe House Preservation Trust are currently restoring the State Drawing Room to how it would have looked in 1805 when it was sketched by a lady called Betsey Wynne, a frequent visitor to the House with her husband Captain, later Admiral Sir, Thomas Fremantle who fought at Trafalgar with Admiral Lord Nelson.
We are currently cleaning and restoring the ceiling and cornices, on this tour you will get the unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of this restoration work and see the State Drawing Room from a whole new angle!
Each tour will be led by one of our fabulous volunteers, who will take a group of up to 8 people up to a scaffold platform to talk about the different aspects of the restoration and to show you the expert work being carried out.
You will be invited to a safety briefing before donning a hard hat and a hi-vis vest and tackling the four-storey scaffold tower to the building site.
