With the theme of ‘Heroes and Villains’, the 2019 Loughton Scarecrow Trail is set to wow visitors. From fairy tales to cartoons, novels to films, you will be sure to find a favourite character amongst the many creations from local people and schools.
Pick up your guide for the trail from All Saints’ Church on Saturday 15 and Saturday 22 June from 10.00am – 5.00pm, Sunday 16 June and Sunday 23 June from 11.00am – 5.00pm, priced just £3. The guide includes a quiz for children, and a voting slip for the Visitors’ Choice Award – a chance to vote for your favourite scarecrow. Once you have a guide, you can take advantage of the long summer evenings to stroll around Loughton and view the ‘crows’.
Why not stop by for refreshments at the Church between 10.30am and 4.30pm on Saturdays and 11.30am and 4.30pm on Sundays? The Trail celebrations include a Grand Raffle and a Silent Auction, which will both be hosted in the Church. Bids for the Silent Auction can be made at any time during the Church opening hours and further details are available on the back of the Trail Guide. The Visitors’ Choice Award will be presented, and winners of the Raffle and Silent Auction announced at 4.30pm on Sunday 23 June at the Church.
As part of the nine-day trail, Loughton Baptist Church will have a ‘Scarecrow Stop’ on Saturday 22 June with children’s activities, BBQ and refreshments from 10.00am to 3.00pm. And the Studio on the Green will open its doors to visitors between 10.00am and 5.00pm on the weekend of 22-23 June, showcasing their beautifully crafted pottery and paintings.
All proceeds from the Trail will go to supporting the Church which celebrated its 800th anniversary in 2018
