Milton Keynes Museum is preparing to be invaded this May, as the annual History Festival returns.
The hugely popular event is a chance to rub shoulders with those who played key roles in the history of the area, and to see how they lived, worked, fought and played.
Battle will commence on Saturday, May 11 – the start of two days of displays, and a whole load of family fun too!
The hands-on hub will be spanning the centuries, presenting almost two thousand years of living history across the weekend.
Make tracks to the Wolverton venue and you'll meet a Roman Civilian Trader selling his wares, be able to interact with the Vikings (if you are brave enough!) and see an Iron Age Blacksmith at work.
Twelfth century historical re-enactment group Chanz Des Reis will be covering civilian, military and religious life during the Middle Ages, and The House of Bayard will transport visitors to life in the 15th century.
The museum will also be welcoming the British Redcoats, the Queen's Regiment 1714 in their splendid uniforms to show their manoeuvres.
From the War of the Roses to WW2 (check out the wartime Jeep that will be parked up and ready for you to investigate), this event will explore some of the troubled times in our history, and will do so in a manner guaranteed to thrill everyone.
The history festival will be a colourful, lively, engaging weekend walking you through the centuries and letting you get closer to our ancestors, as Milton Keynes Museum takes history off the page and brings it to life at this fascinating, family-friendly event.
All the museum's usual attractions will be open too.
You will be able to play parlour games, browse the street of shops, discover more about the history of communication and see the history of transport – complete with the tram that once took workers from Stony Stratford to Wolverton works.
If hunger bites, bite back with a visit to the Granary Cafe, with its affordable, tempting variety of hot and cold sandwiches and sweet treats, and the best cakes for miles around.
