More Information (MKFM is not responsible for external websites)
Experience a rewarding morning of conservation as part of the Heritage Open Day Series, where the team will be getting hands-on to help nature thrive on one of our most distinctive geological features—Blisworth Limestone bedrock.
Meeting at: The Stone Circle, Great Linford Manor Park (What3Words: influence.hero.sanded).
Parking is available nearby at the Memorial Hall a 5 minute walk away. There is secure cycle parking at this location too or you can bring your bike to the meeting/activity point (What3Words for parking: pets.showrooms.decent).
Blisworth Limestone is a unique a rich part of our local geological heritage and provides a unique home for specialist mosses, lichens, invertebrates, and wildflowers. Over time, these features can become lost to scrub, moss and vegetation. By clearing the rock face and creating bare earth patches; are two important actions that help support a rich variety of wildlife and preserve our natural heritage. You might even find some fossils too!
What do you need to bring?
- Gardening gloves (if you prefer to wear your own)
- Suitable clothing including sturdy boots or shoes
- A hat, water and sunscreen (because conservation doesn’t stop for the sun)
- Drink and a snack
Participants of all ages are welcomed on this activity but young people attending must be supervised at all times.
You don't have to stay for the full session - so please come along for as long as you'd like.
