To celebrate the up and coming celebrations for Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Woburn Sands will be hosting its very own ‘A Vintage Jubilee’, a 1940’s/50s themed event in the grounds of St Mary’s Church, Aspley Hill, on Sat 4th June.
There will be plenty of Vintage music from the voices of Just Jane, Miss Lily Lovejoy, who has sung with the likes of Alfie Boe & Michael Ball and Tom Carradine from Wilton’s Music Hall in London with his classic singalong to entertain you throughout the day. There will also be vintage traders and old fashioned fair games such as ‘Splat the rat’ and ‘hook a duck’ and maybe try your strength on the time honoured ‘strongman striker’. Failing that you can console yourself with some popcorn or candy floss from the vintage confectionery cart and immerse yourself in the era admiring the wonderful array of classic cars on display. At 2.30pm, the classic cars will head out of the church grounds for the Vintage car parade down Woburn Sands High Street. The WVS (women voluntary Service)ladies will be providing refreshments and a special Jubilee Afternoon Tea in the hall at St Mary’s while ‘Winston Churchill’ passes around meeting and greeting everyone. Finally not to be missed is the Spitfire Flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Team at 4pm subject to weather conditions.
This is a community event organised by Zoe McCarthy and free entry to all. We are asking all attendees to make use of the public car parking in Woburn Sands and walk up Aspley Hill to St Mary’s.
