Camphill Milton Keynes Communities
Camphill MK Communities is a charity supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism.
Camphill MK is a community of 75 adults with learning disabilities and autism who are encouraged and supported to maximise their potential through the experience of living, learning, working and celebrating in community with others. They are provided with a strong and quality assured supportive environment where residents gain self-confidence and personal independence within an enabling environment.
When established over 40-years ago, Camphill MK was gifted plots of land by the developers of the new city of Milton Keynes ‘MK Development Corporation’ which are now being built on to create new accessible homes for another 30+ learning disabled individuals. This £15m capital scheme will see new buildings on both of their Milton Keynes sites (Willen Park and Pennyland). Current facilities include on-site accommodation, a theatre, ceramics studio, tools refurbishment and upcycling centre, weavery, allotments, craft workshops and café. Each individual lives in their own bedroom in a house with between four and 11 others with shared living quarters, attended daily by the house coordinator and support workers who address individual needs.
