The winner has been announced for the Police and Crime Commissioner's Milton Keynes Knife Sentence rap competition.
In December, Thames Valley's Police and Crime Commissioner launched 'The Knife Sentence' competition. Young people were asked to submit their own Knife Sentence; a short rap, spoken word performance or written lyrics about how they feel about knife crime and violence in Milton Keynes.
The competition aimed to raise awareness of the impact of knife crime on individuals and communities and give young people the opportunity to express their feelings against violence.
It formed part of the activity that took place last December in the City’s Month of Action Against Violence, which also saw the hosting of the National Monument Against Violence and Aggression, also known as the Knife Angel, outside MK Stadium.
The winning entry Right Place Wrong Time was written and performed by 12 year old Michele Bennet.
He has since recorded his winning track with music group Readipop who also judged the competition.
Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Barber, said: “The competition was about engaging young people on the issue of knife crime; how they feel about it and how it affects them.
“We had some inspiring and powerful entries so well done to Michele on his success.
“Knife crime can be a difficult subject to talk about and I’m pleased that the Knife Sentence has helped young people get involved in the conversation.”
