Plans have been submitted for a new 33-storey apartment block in Central Milton Keynes.

planning application has been submitted to Milton Keynes City Council for the demolition of the former Jaipur restaurant building which has been derelict since the closure of Atesh.

The application submitted by Smith Jenkins Planning & Heritage on behalf of Galliford Try Investments seeks full planning permission for the redevelopment of the site to provide a '33-storey residential apartment block with commercial use at ground and mezzanine floor level'.

The site, which has previously used by previous owners as a restaurant unit and at one point a nightclub, has remained unused, with the application stating that 'there is little to no prospect of it being re-used as a restaurant'.

Plans submitted to the City Council as part of the application includes 302 built to rent flats on the upper floors of the tower block which will range from 1-2 bedrooms to accommodate between 1 and 4 persons.

According to the planning application, the proposals are set to be a car-free development with no car parking spaces included within the plans.

The site sits next door to a 10-storey Premier Inn hotel, with a ground floor restaurant and bar.
