Over 30 knives handed in during weapon amnesties in Milton Keynes

Knives have been handed over to Thames Valley Police for destruction as part of an operation to remove weapons from the streets.

On Saturday 29th April, two weapon amnesties were held in Milton Keynes.

An amnesty bin was located at Heelands Community Centre and another at the Bradville Wylie Building, allowing people in Milton Keynes with knives or weapons to voluntarily dispose of them in a safe and legal way.

The aims of the operation, which is taking place across Thames Valley, are to remove dangerous weapons from the streets, reduce knife crime and raise awareness of the dangers and consequences of carrying a knife.

During the course of the day, over 30 knives were collected for disposal.

"We would like to thank everyone that came to talk to us and handed in items for destruction," police said on social media.
