Milton Keynes Food Bank Charity celebrates receiving over 19,500 food items in recent appeal

Over 70 Milton Keynes businesses and community groups took on MK Food Bank’s latest appeal - MK Can: Logo Challenge!

Following the success in October 2023 of MK Can – our official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS TM title of The Longest Line of Food Cans – we were able to feed thousands of families and individuals throughout the winter. Due to high demand however, by March, most of the 102,447 cans from the line had already been distributed and we needed to restock our shelves. So, once again, we enlisted the help of the whole of Milton Keynes - businesses, schools, local councils, and community groups, challenging them to get creative and create a large-scale mural of their logo or name out of essential food items.

The rules were relaxed - logos could be as big, as imaginative, and as detailed as they liked, and created anywhere they had space - in a car park, warehouse, hall or board room – the bigger the better! Organisations could match their full range of colours or take a far more flexible approach, the one thing that mattered was that the design was primarily made from long life food, in cans, packets, bottles, cartons and boxes.

Over 70 businesses, schools, churches and community groups accepted the challenge. For two weeks over the Easter holidays, they collected donations and planned their designs, creating a huge array of imaginative and colourful logos. As well as promoting their businesses and groups collectively they raised more than 19,500 items of food, enough to support several hundreds of people through periods of crisis – a real win-win!

The MK Food Bank Team visited around 20 organisations on its Logo Challenge Roadshow, witnessing firsthand the joy, camaraderie and community spirit that was generated by participating. All of the entries can be viewed at Logo Challenge - MK Food Bank
