A man has died, and another is in hospital with 'serious injuries', following an accident in Milton Keynes

MKFM understands that emergency services were called to a serious accident which took place involving two contractors working at Lantmännen Unibake’s Milton Keynes factory.

The specialist contractors were undertaking a planned refurbishment of a baking line prover inside the bakery when they fell, the company says.

Tragically, one of the individuals has passed away.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson told MKFM: “We received a report of an industrial accident at an address on Maidstone Road, Kingston, Milton Keynes, at around 1.25pm."

“Sadly, a 61-year-old man has died. His next of kin have been informed and offered support by officers.

“Officers will be remaining on scene whilst an investigation into the circumstances of the death is completed, and we are working with the Health and Safety Executive.

“A man in his sixties also suffered serious injuries and has been taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for further treatment, where he remains.”

Wendy Smith, Managing Director, Lantmännen Unibake commented, “We are deeply shocked and saddened by this terrible accident, and our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with those affected and their families.  We are offering support to all employees across the business affected by this.

“We are working closely with all parties including the Thames Valley Police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).”
